Chocolate Brioche Pretzels

I just realized I completely forgot to show you the chocolate brioche pretzels I made.  The recipe is the first thing I made out of Deb Perelman's Smitten Kitchen Cookbook... and it did not disappoint.

I'm not going to lie, I get really nervous when a recipe calls for yeast because I get concerned about things rising properly.  But this recipe only uses instant yeast (my first time using it) and it was really easy to  use.  Plus, the instructions were very clear.

If you're wondering why the dough looks like a pizza, it's because the recipe calls for you to cut into 8 pieces... and cutting it like a pizza seemed like the easiest way to divide the dough evenly.

It was surprisingly easy to make the pretzel shape out of the dough.

And the final product:

    1. I really want to dive in and try more recipes out of it. Truthfully, I'm obsessed with the breakfast section even though I don't normally cook for breakfast. But everything looks so good. If you do check it out and make anything from it, let me know what you think! There's also the Smitten Kitchen blog if you want to try that out before buying the book, just to see if you like her stuff!
